Position Profile: Women and Newborn Health Service is seeking suitable applications for Registrar Trainees for the Neonatal Directorate. In this role you will manage inpatients, outpatients and emergency patients under the supervision of Specialists. This role may work across King Edward Memorial Hospital and/or Perth Children’s Hospital, and the Newborn Emergency Transport Service.
Area Profile: King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is the sole tertiary perinatal centre for the State of Western Australia. The NICU is one of the largest and busiest perinatal NICU’s in the Southern Hemisphere, with about 2500 admissions per year to the 30-bed tertiary NICU and 70-bed Special Care Nursery. The hospital is located in Subiaco, a vibrant suburb with premier fashion outlets, a vast array of restaurants and cafes and many attractions including galleries, museums and theatres.
Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) is a new purpose built 298 bed specialist paediatric hospital and trauma centre providing outstanding inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory medical care to children and adolescents up to 16 years of age. Located on the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre site in Nedlands, Perth, the hospital became fully operational in June 2018 and features world class facilities specifically designed around the needs of children, adolescents, families and carers of Western Australia.
NETS WA is the state-wide transport service, which retrieves around 1000 sick/ premature newborns and infants annually. The service collaborates with St John Ambulance and the Royal Flying Doctor Service, operating in the world’s largest retrieval area, to provide support to metropolitan, regional and remote centres.
