The Department of Justice works to protect, rehabilitate and serve in order to achieve its mission of ensuring a safer community. The Corporate Services Division is responsible for managing the Department's human resources, financial services, infrastructure, legal services and information technology. The Knowledge, Information and Technology Directorate is responsible for providing legal services, information release and technology solutions and support to the Department whilst continuously improving its services in support of operations. The Directorate plays a key role in supporting business improvement and efficiencies through integrated systems.
Role
Senior Legal Services Officer
Reporting to the Principal Information Officer, the Senior Legal Services Officer provides assistance and support with the management and release of information to external parties. The role assists with the development of protocols for the exchange of information with other departments and release of information under the Freedom of Information Act 1992 and other legislation. This role is also responsible for assisting with the coordination of the Department's response to legal actions in consultation with the Principal Information Officer and in liaison with the State Solicitor's Office, including applications for judicial review, public liability claims, claims for damages and coronial inquests.
Duration of appointment: The position is for six (6) months, with the possibility of extension.
Part Time: 15 hours (2 days) per week.
