Position Profile
We currently have one (1) permanent full time appointment available for immediate filling.
This process may be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the department. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from approval of the initial recruitment decision.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Plant Biosecurity Officer to be part of our Biosecurity Directorate within DPIRD. The role reports to the Executive Director, Biosecurity.
You will play a significant leadership role in the development of plant health policy, risk analysis, pest and disease surveillance, control and eradication at a state and national level. (including bee health). The delivery of credible plant health programs is key to gaining and maintaining market access for West Australia’s multibillion-dollar agricultural industries.
In collaboration with the Executive Director Biosecurity, the Chief Plant Biosecurity Officer will provide high-level policy and strategic advice to both the West Australian Government, industry and on national forums, which ensures the protection of the State’s agricultural industries from pests and diseases. This includes ensuring that WA has a high level of capability to contribute to national biosecurity and emergency response programs.
This senior leadership position will suit an influential individual with excellent leadership skills, demonstrated resilience, professional authority and confidence in making critical decisions and leading a team in the face of adversity.
