Position Profile: WA Country Health Service is seeking to appoint a suitably experienced and enthusiastic individual to the position of Regional Director Medical Services for the Goldfields region. The successful applicant will have a commitment to and passion for rural and remote healthcare.
This position provides strategic leadership regarding medical services including clinical governance, professional affairs, continuous quality improvement, medical best practice and patient safety. As the most senior medical administrator within the region, this position provides high quality support and advice to the Regional Director and Regional Executive on key issues impacting on the provision of medical services within the region. The role requires a proven ability to align medical services to the overall health service strategic plan and to advance and develop strategic medical workforce planning for the region.
This position also provides oversight and professional leadership to the Director Medical Services based at Kalgoorlie Hospital and Medical Heads of Department across the health service facilities; actively supporting the development of clinical service streams; and advancing new and innovative models of care across the facilities.
Area Profile: The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to approximately half a million people, including 45,000 Aboriginal people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometre area. The organisation comprises seven regions, with a strong network of public hospitals, health services and health centres located across rural and remote Western Australia. Our core business is the provision of quality, accessible health services to country WA residents and visitors.
The position is based in Kalgoorlie which is a mining town with a huge number of community services that would suit many families (young to retiring) and individuals. Sport facilities, clubs and societies and social services abound to support a good work life balance with the town having many major chain stores and services. Community is a key strength of the town. Being located inland the weather is peri-desert and there is weekend access to beach community of Esperance.
