Roebuck Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants – Mainstream for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2018 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2019. Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2018 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2019.
We are looking for intuitive, dynamic and self-motivated professionals to join our team in this very important role. The suitable applicants will have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate with school staff, students and community members. As Education Assistant you will work closely with the teacher to help create and maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
This position would include working with a range of students with a range of education levels, completing the day-to-day tasks as directed by the teacher. We are seeking applicants who are organised and efficient. This includes demonstrating the ability to maintain a safe and tidy learning environment, manage resources by maintaining and updating inventory lists and providing administrative support where appropriate..
Roebuck PS is located in Broome and is 2200km from Perth. Roebuck PS is an Independent Public School (IPS) within the Western Australian public school system, and a member of the Broome School Cluster located in the northern suburb of Djugun, Broome.

Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
