About the WAEC

Western Australia is a great place to live and deliver elections, and it is getting even better as we transform the Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) into a leading electoral service by modernising systems, strengthening capability and improving the experience for voters and stakeholders.

Elections might look straightforward from the outside, but behind every polling place, ballot count and result is a team that is calm, switched on and committed to getting it right. From State elections and by-elections to local government and a wide range of community and private elections, we are always planning, delivering and improving.

At WAEC, we are guided by our four values: Make it Count, Check Every Box, Focus on Fairness and Achieve Together. We are committed to recruiting people whose behaviours, leadership style and approach to public service align with these values, recognising that cultural contribution is as important as technical capability.

If you want your skills in facilities, fleet and asset management to count for something bigger than a building or a balance sheet, this is your chance to help safeguard trust in democracy.

The Opportunity
As our Facilities and Assets Manager you will lead the management services that keep WAEC running, including fleet, facilities, accommodation and physical assets, together with the procurement, leasing and contracts that sit behind them. You will lead a small team, maintain asset registers, lifecycle plans and maintenance schedules, plan accommodation for offices and warehouses in line with WA public sector standards, oversee fleet in line with State Fleet requirements and manage contractors and service providers to deliver genuine value for money.

This is far more than a day-to-day operations role. You will carry a critical election readiness and delivery function, securing and preparing election facilities such as early polling places and processing centres, developing project plans with the Election Planning and Readiness team and overseeing a temporary project workforce to deliver time-critical projects. Throughout, you will manage security, site access, logistics, work health and safety and risk in a high-trust environment where the timeframes are fixed and the scrutiny is real.

The role sits within the Finance and Business Services Directorate, in the Capability and Performance Division, and reports to the Director Finance and Business Services.

About You
You are a calm, organised and practical leader who can hold a dozen moving parts in your head, bring people with you and still deliver when the pressure is on. You build high-performing, accountable and collaborative teams, you lift capability and you lead change with clarity and confidence. You see compliant, well-controlled processes and procedures not as red tape but as the foundation for strong business outcomes, and you bring people with you on the journey

You also embody the spirit of public service, leading with integrity, professionalism and innovation, with an unwavering focus on protecting public trust and delivering outcomes in the best interests of Western Australians.

Specific details of the role can be found in the Position Description attached to this advert.
