JOB DESCRIPTION: 

The Parliamentary Services Department is seeking two experienced and highly capable Security Operations Managers to join the Security and Reception Services team.

In this critical role, you will contribute to ensuring the safety and security of Members of Parliament, employees, and visitors to the Parliament of Western Australia. You will play a key leadership role in maintaining a secure and welcoming environment within the Parliamentary precinct.

About the Role
Reporting to the Security Manager, you will support the leadership and coordination of a team of Security Officers responsible for safeguarding the Parliamentary Reserve and associated buildings.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and supervising security operations to ensure a safe and secure environment
  • Supporting the delivery of high-quality customer service to visitors and stakeholders
  • Monitoring and assessing security risks, and contributing to continuous improvement of protective security policies and procedures
  • Managing incidents and applying sound judgment in complex or sensitive situations
  • Contributing to a professional and responsive security culture


About You
To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership experience in a protective security or related environment
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Sound judgement and decision-making capability in dynamic operational settings
  • A commitment to professionalism, integrity, and a genuine interest in working with the public.

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Applicants will need to meet the following selection criteria:

Essential:

  1. A relevant tertiary qualification in a security related discipline
  2. Demonstrated experience in protective security including 3-5 years’ security management
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of protective security management best practices
  4. Demonstrated staff management and leadership experience
  5. Proven conflict resolution skills
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly oral communication
  7. Demonstrated experience in Emergency Response and First-Aid
  8. Computer literacy at a competent level
  9. Good written skills
  10. Must possess a current National Police Clearance (less than 12 months old)

Desirable:

  1. Policing or military background
  2. Experience managing CCTV operations
  3. Knowledge of developing security awareness programs
