Registrar - Trainee - Gastroenterology
Please
note this is for the 2027 Registrar Intake.
This
position is designed for candidates intending to undertake the 36
months of Advanced training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
(Adult Medicine). Applicants need to ensure they meet the RACP
entry requirements in the RACP Gastroenterology 2026 Handbook in
order meet the training criteria to support employment in
an Advanced Training position.
This
is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for
12-24 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable
applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be
made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made
from this pool until 02/11/2026.
Appointments
for this position will not commence until 2027.
Position Profile:
The Registrar – Trainee –
Gastroenterology/Hepatology will be an integral part of a team
committed to providing high quality and patient centred care to all
patients under the supervision of Clinical Supervisors within a
multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will provide
training, supervision and education for Resident Medical Officers
(RMOs) and Interns. In collaboration with the multi-disciplinary
team works to achieve national, State and North Metropolitan Health
Service (NMHS) performance standards and targets. Doctors wishing
to apply for Gastroenterology Training Program through the college
must also apply for this position. Applicants who only apply to the
college and submit a late application to the hospital will not be
accepted if after the below closing date.
Area Profiles:
Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) is located at the
Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre 4km from Perth city centre, SCGH
provides a comprehensive range of clinical service including
trauma, emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, general
medicine, general surgery and cardiac care. It is home to WA's only
comprehensive cancer centre - the largest cancer treatment centre
in the State - and is the State's principal hospital for
neurosurgery and liver transplants.
Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is a 450-bed
tertiary hospital focused on providing a range of complex and
elective surgeries for adults. Home to the State major adult trauma
centre, RPH offers tertiary-level emergency medicine, mental health
and specialist medical services. It is also a premier teaching
hospital and contribute to innovation and excellence in medical
research and patient care.
Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary
hospital offering a range of health services including the State
rehabilitation service, a comprehensive cancer centre,
purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and
neonatal services, and the State adult burns service. FSH also
delivers specialised services such as heart and lung
transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
