About the role
Main Roads Western Australia is an ISO 14001-certified organisation and is committed to the responsible environmental management of the WA road network. The Environment and Heritage Branch provides leadership, processes and standards that drive corporate environmental and heritage performance, ensuring our environmental management meets legislative requirements and organisational objectives.
Main Roads is seeking a Principal Environmental Officer to promote excellence in environmental performance and to manage the development, implementation and delivery of corporate environmental initiatives, systems, processes and strategies. You will make an important contribution to the successful delivery of our business and help drive our environmental performance.
The position is based in Perth, with some regional travel required.
As a passionate and qualified environmental professional, you will have demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of environmental systems, processes and strategies. You will possess comprehensive skills, knowledge and experience in environmental assessment, approvals and management, along with experience in applying State and Federal environmental legislation.
Your ability to develop positive, proactive and professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders will be critical to your success in this role. As you will be leading a team, your experience in managing employee behaviour, performance and development will also be essential.
Furthermore, you will hold a degree in Science in a relevant discipline or in Environmental Management.
