Health Service is seeking an experienced and committed Senior
Medical Practitioner (Emergency Medicine) to join our dynamic team
at Kalgoorlie Hospital in the heart of Western Australia’s
Goldfields region.

have 1x Full-Time permanent position available. We are open to
negotiate fly-in-fly-out arrangements between Perth and Kalgoorlie
(within reason).
Fixed term
appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or
permanency.
Renumeration:
Senior Medical Practitioner Year 1-3 $377,207 - $401,095 (inclusive
of base salary, professional development allowance and 12%
superannuation).
About the
role:
As a Senior Medical
Practitioner in Emergency Medicine in Kalgoorlie Health Campus, you
will play a central role in delivering high-quality care to
patients across the Goldfields region. Working as part of a
dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will provide comprehensive
assessment and management of inpatients, outpatients, and emergency
presentations under the guidance of Consultant
Physicians.
With a population of 52,348,
the Goldfields region faces distinctive healthcare challenges, with
13% of the population identifying as Aboriginal. Many patients,
often from low socio-economic backgrounds, present with complex
chronic conditions and cancer diagnoses. In this role, your ability
to provide culturally sensitive, patient centred care will be
crucial in supporting better health outcomes for this diverse
community.
Kalgoorlie Hospital serves
as the regional hub for the wider Goldfields region, with the
Emergency Department (ED) managing over 25,000 annual
presentations, with approximately 25% of patients identifying as
Aboriginal. Your role will be instrumental in addressing health
disparities and enhancing outcomes for this diverse community. As
the ED operates around the clock, your rotating roster will include
three possible shift times which are 08:00 to 18:00, 10:00 to
20:00, or 13:00 to 23:00. Additionally, you will participate in
on-call duties from 23:00 to 08:00, ensuring comprehensive 24/7
emergency coverage.
Within the ED at the
Kalgoorlie Health Campus, you will support and educate
multi-disciplinary teams consisting of Junior Medical Officers,
nursing staff, administrative staff, and support staff. You’ll
collaborate with organisations like the Royal Flying Doctor
Service, the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, and the
WACHS Command Centre, you will work cohesively to manage the unique
cases presented, all while delivering exceptional emergency care to
the community.

Eligibility
Requirements:
- Due to
the limited supervision capacity at Kalgoorlie Hospital, at
this present time individuals who require supervised practice
placements for Specialist International Medical Graduates
(SIMGs) cannot be
supported.

- hold
unrestricted General and/or Specialist registration
with the Medical Board of Australia, and
- have at least
two years of clinical experience in Australia or a
recognised Competent Authority country.
- Exceptional overseas
candidates may be considered on a case-by-case
basis.
- Australian citizenship
or permanent residency is an essential requirement for
applicants to be considered for permanent
positions in the public sector. Applicants on a visa can be
appointed only on a fixed-term
contract.
