CRVCID. 734807

This is a Permanent Part Time appointment at 45.6 hours per fortnight.

We currently have 3 positions available at 0.6 FTE.

About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

About the Acute Care & Response Team (ACRT):

The ACRT is a new service model, arising from the ICA Taskforce recommendations. The team provides a step up in intensity of service to children and adolescents experiencing a crisis or deterioration in their mental health. This includes crisis response, assessment, safety planning, short-term intervention, planning for ongoing care, and supplementary care for children with severe and enduring mental ill health. Care will be provided close to home in a community setting, reducing the need for hospital presentations. The North, South, and East ACRTs provide a service to children and adolescents who live in each respective region of the Perth metropolitan Area.

As mental health conditions can deeply impact the emotional and social well-being of children and their families, our holistic and child-centred approach is designed to assist families and is focused on participation and engagement.

As a clinician on the team, you’ll be required to conduct home and community visits during business hours and out of hours on a rostered basis, including after hours and on weekends, based on operational needs. You’ll be part of a team that prioritises patient and staff safety and receive training and ongoing supervision as part of your role.

About the Role:

As an Aboriginal Mental Health Resource Worker on the ACRTs, you will act as a resource to and member of the multidisciplinary team, to enhance the accessibility of mental health services and provide support, advice and appropriate care to Aboriginal consumers and families. You will provide cultural consultancy and support across the team and to internal and external stakeholders, develop partnerships within the organisation and the community and provide support for the management of care of clients of the ACRTs. You will act as a guiding resource to clinicians, supporting excellent engagement with Aboriginal young people and families and advocating for meaningful outcomes for clients you support. You will also positively participate in ongoing development and implementation of culturally secure practice initiatives and improvements across the team.

The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to be the leading service provider for paediatric healthcare in Western Australia, as the State’s only dedicated health service for infants, children and young people. CAHS is made up four service areas: Neonatology, Community Health, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH). Consisting of over 6,500 employees, our services are delivered at PCH and King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH), as well as across a network of more than 160 community clinics across the metropolitan area.

For further information about the benefits of working for CAHS and our services please click here.

Selection Criteria: Please see the attached Job Description Form.
