Principal Policy Officer & Senior Policy Officer

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Road Safety Commission’s Strategy and Policy Directorate shapes and guide the State’s road safety agenda, provides high level advice to the Commissioner and Road Safety Minister on the coordination and delivery of legislation, policy and reform initiatives to maximise the effectiveness of road safety strategies and minimise road trauma in WA.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to lead the implementation of the Driving Change Strategy 2020-2030, examine the use of new and emerging technologies, and
identify road safety behaviour change initiatives and influence drivers on doing the right thing on Western Australian roads.

We currently have one (1) permanent Principal Policy Officer available for immediate filling and one (1) temporary vacancy available for 12 months with the possibility of extension and or permanency.

We have one (1) temporary Senior Policy Officer available for immediate filling for 12 months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Candidates with legislative experience will be highly regarded.

THE ROLE

The Strategy and Policy Directorate are seeking candidates who have extensive experience in dealing with complex and multi-faceted policy issues and developing evidence-based solutions.

Supporting the Director Strategy and Policy, the Principal Policy Officer leads the design, development and evaluation of policies and undertakes complex research and analysis. Leading a small team, this role requires the ability to create and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders and across government to influence positive outcomes. Your collaborative approach, management style and organisational skills ensures your team achieves common goals in a fast-paced and evolving work environment. Your driven and enthusiastic approach to delivering innovative solutions will have a long-lasting impact on improving road safety in WA.

The Senior Policy Officer contributes to the design, development and evaluation of policies, undertaking complex research and analysis and providing policy advice to assist in shaping and influencing the Commission’s strategic direction and align with government priorities.

  • Employer contribution of 12% superannuation in addition to your salary. 
  • 20 days of annual leave (pro rata for part time).
  • Annual leave loading payment in December of each year.
  • 13 weeks (pro rata) paid long service leave for every seven years of consecutive service.
  • 15 days personal leave each year (pro rata for part time).
  • 3 days public service holiday.
  • 14 weeks paid parental leave after 12 months of continuous service.
