Position
Profile: We are seeking two suitably experienced people to
join our Environmental Health Directorate.
As the Senior Scientific
Officer, you will provide expert technical support and advice on
control of disease vector mosquitoes and other insects and
organisms of public health significance within the Division and to
other departments, local government and the public. Your key
responsibilities will include:
- Provide expert technical
support and advice on management of disease vector mosquitoes,
other insects and biological hazards within the Directorate and
to other departments, local government and the
public.
- Provide advice and
oversees the aerial larviciding program in the southwest of the
state and liaises with local government and private contractors
for treatments.
- Determine strategies for
mosquito management at the request of local
government.
- Interpret complex data
and prepares and presents high quality analysis and reports to
inform decision making and focuses on opportunities to improve
data collection, management and reporting
processes.
- Coordinate training
courses on mosquito management for State and local government
officers.

Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants
must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live
and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).

Conditions: WA Health engages staff in
positions of trust and responsibility. WA Health policies require

checking as part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking

required to undertake a working with children check (if required

Whilst this selection
process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may
