About the NDIS Worker Screening Unit
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check is a compulsory screening strategy for people who work in risk-assessed roles for registered NDIS providers. The NDIS Check is valid for five years across Australia. During this period, cleared workers are subject to ongoing monitoring of their criminal history and other relevant information.

The NDIS Check is a national tool and is administered by screening units in each state or territory. In Western Australia, this screening unit operates within the Department of Communities at the NDIS Worker Screening Unit (NDIS WSU). The unit aims to uphold the rights of people with disability, in particular their right to live free from abuse, violence, neglect and exploitation.

The Role
The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for the excellent customer service standards and stakeholder engagement for the NDIS WSU.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate compliance with NDIS Worker Screening legislation.
  • Undertaking projects and engagement activities to promote the NDIS Worker Screening such as attending and planning educational workshops, expositions and other events.
  • Providing operational support and induction training to the Customer Support team.
  • Implementing and maintaining policy and procedures relating to customer service.
  • Monitoring incoming applications for NDIS Check clearances to ensure data quality and timely processing, as well as responding to complex enquiries.
