We are seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood Education and Primary Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2. 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

River Valley Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School (IPS) serving the community of Burekup. Established in 1999 through the amalgamation of Roelands Primary School (est. 1903) and Burekup Primary School (est. 1913), we proudly maintain our rural roots and strong sense of community. In our early years, we use a balanced pedagogy of explicit teaching and play-based learning. We believe play-based learning provides children with opportunities to actively and imaginatively engage with people, objects and their environment. Through play, young learners explore and apply knowledge both independently and collaboratively, fostering curiosity, creativity, independence and a love of learning.

In our upper primary years, we continue to build on strong foundations through a balanced approach that combines explicit teaching with purposeful opportunities for inquiry, collaboration and student agency. We believe upper primary students learn best when they are supported to think critically, apply their knowledge in meaningful contexts, and take increasing responsibility for their learning.

Our teaching programs provide clear, structured instruction in core areas such as Literacy and Numeracy, while also encouraging students to problem solve, question, create and work collaboratively. We aim to develop confident, resilient and independent learners who can communicate effectively, reflect on their progress, and contribute positively to their community. Through engaging learning experiences, leadership opportunities and real-world connections, students are encouraged to develop curiosity, perseverance and the skills needed for future success.

We are seeking teachers who demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning, with a strong understanding of evidence-based practices across curriculum areas. Suitable applicants will create calm, orderly and predictable classroom environments guided by trauma-informed practices and our Positive Behaviour Support framework. 

Knowledge and understanding of evidence-based programs and approaches such as Letters and Sounds, Talk for Writing, Seven Steps to Writing Success, Oxford Maths, and the use of daily reviews is highly desirable.

Ideally applicants will be innovative and systematic in delivering Tier 2 interventions in priority areas such as literacy, numeracy and social-emotional learning, and understand how to use data to inform teaching practice and decision making. Knowledge of Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI), lesson design, engagement strategies, daily reviews and effective feedback practices is highly desirable.

Mobility appointments for permanent, metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
