We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Safety Bay PS is located within the City of Rockingham, approximately 45 km south of Perth. It has been rebuilt from the original site into a well-planned and resourced school which accommodates a growing population, sitting at approximately 600 students.

The Role

As an Education Assistant – Special Needs you would under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs and interventions and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of students. Suitable applicants will ideally possess good interpersonal and communication skills and a positive and professional manner. They should have the ability to use their initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and wellbeing of students and maintenance of the learning environment.

It is highly desirable for suitable applicants to have experience or knowledge of AUSLAN and working with hearing impaired students. Experience working with students with complex needs, challenging behaviours and liaising with external support agencies will be highly regarded.

    • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
