This recruitment pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill ongoing fixed term contracts and permanent opportunities.

Currently, there is 4 permanent positions available for immediate filling.

This process will be used to establish a pool of suitable applicants to fill all the listed roles.

About the role

The Vocational Skills Instructor operates a training workshop/classroom delivering culturally appropriate vocational and industry based training to support prison operations. The position provides on the job instruction, accredited training andsupervision to prisoners who work in this area.

Eligibility

Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Special conditions – successful applicants must have a C class driver’s licence and a Valid senior first aid accreditation

Qualifications – the following qualifications are required for each role:

   Cabinet Shop Instructor

  • Certificate III in Cabinet Making, and/or
  • Certificate III in Furniture Making, and
  • Construction Industry white card

   Chef Instructor

  • Certificate III in Hospitality (with Commercial Cookery, Catering, or Cooking Operations specialty), and/or
  • Certificate III in Commericl Cookery, and/or
  • Certificate III in Catering Operations, and/or
  • Trade pathway (apprenticeship)

   Industrial Relief Instructor

  • A relevant trade qualification and/or significant industry experience in one or more of the following areas: horticulture or landscaping, metal fabrication or engineering, carpentry or woodworking, commercial cookery, laundry or commercial cleaning operations, community work programs, or other aligned vocational industries.

   Section 95 Instructor

  • Construction Industry white card

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.

The Department of Justice uses recruitment pools to build a bank of talent for future opportunities. Applicants found suitable in this pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies, with the Department of Justice at Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison for the duration of the pool.
