This is a Fixed Term
Full-Time appointment for 75 hours per fortnight (1.0 FTE) for 5
years, with the possibility of extension.

Position
Profile: The Deputy Chief Health Officer - Public
Health leads the Office of the Chief Health Officer in the
development and management of public health legislation,
regulation, workforce, and planning.
Strategic Management
and Leadership
- Contribute to
departmental and divisional strategic planning and decision
making.
- Advise
the Deputy Director General on high level policy issues and
significant trends in health protection and public health,
public health regulation, workforce, and planning.
Policy Development
and Advice
- Lead and
coordinate Office and strategic policy
development.
- Provide
professional and strategic advice to the Minister, executive
management, and key stakeholders on health protection and
public health legislation.
Public Health
Legislation and Regulation
- Advise
on the application and revision of health protection and public
health legislation and the development of new legislation and
regulations.
- Develop
State-wide strategic plans and policies for implementation of
legislation relating to the delivery of health protection and
public health services.

Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants
must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live
and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).
Other
Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust
and responsibility. WA Health policies require applicants to
undertake a criminal records screening and integrity checking as
part of the appointment process. As well as undertaking a criminal
record screening and integrity checking, you may also be required
to undertake a working with children check (if required for the
role) and a pre-employment health assessment. We may ask referees
to comment on your integrity and past demonstration of ethical
behaviour. Please note that adverse information does not
necessarily disqualify an applicant but will be considered as part
of the appointment process.
Whilst this selection
process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may
also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the
health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next
most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12)
months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment
decision.
