
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you should have experience supporting students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties, and a commitment to fostering their academic and social development. You will ideally display strong organisational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, along with a genuine passion for supporting student success.
This role covers a working day from 8:15am to 3:15pm and collaborating closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals across a variety of classrooms and year levels. You should apply your skills and experience to support students with diverse needs, including physical and intellectual disabilities, diabetes, Autism, and complex mental health conditions. Relevant qualifications in special needs education are desirable.
You will ideally assist in delivering planned education programs, supporting student wellbeing, and using effective behaviour management strategies, particularly when responding to complex behaviours. Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to adapt to changing needs are highly desirable.
We are seeking proactive, reflective team members who are open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. You should contribute to monitoring student progress and implementing evidence-based strategies to maximise learning outcomes.

- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
