We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistants - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Join our team as an Education Assistant - Special Needs and support the Department's objective of teaching and learning for students with special needs. Suitable applicants will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of planned education programs, including managing small groups of students under the direction of the teacher. Applicants may also be required to support students in the community at work experience and TAFE. Our primary focus is to develop a safe, supportive learning environment where students can maximise opportunities to meet educational goals and reach their individual potential.

Suitable applicants should be innovative, collaborative team players with well-developed behaviour management skills, particularly in supporting students with disabilities and/or complex or challenging behaviours. They should display the ability to follow individualised student support plans, including those related to toileting and medical needs. Ideally, applicants will also possess strong interpersonal skills and work effectively with colleagues to support the diverse needs of students.

    • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students
