
This is a Permanent Part
Time role at 32 hours per fortnight (0.4 FTE).
We are seeking a dedicated and expert Lactation Consultant to
provide specialised clinical support during pregnancy and the early
postpartum period. As part of our team, you will play a vital role
in improving the health and wellbeing of mothers and newborns
across country Western Australia by offering tailored lactation
consultations that adhere to the highest standards of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, implement, and evaluate care plans for mothers and
newborns with complex lactation needs during the antenatal and
postnatal period.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to
provide education and support to breastfeeding mothers, both
through telehealth and in-person consultations.
- Promote and support breastfeeding in accordance with the
World Health Organisation principles and IBCLC standards.
- Maintain and update accurate records within a legal and
ethical framework, contributing to quality improvement
initiatives.
- Provide training and support to healthcare staff while
acting as a resource for clinical development within the
team.
Ideal Candidate:
- Eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse and/or
Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- Current International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant
Certificate with proven skills in lactation support.
- Experience in a midwifery or neonatal setting,
demonstrating strong clinical problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, coupled with teaching,
negotiation, and conflict resolution capabilities.
- A commitment to quality improvement and customer service
excellence.
- Experience working independently and collaboratively within
a team environment.
- Strong digital capacity for utilising technology to enhance
patient care.
