We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Ashburton Drive Primary School (PS) motto is 'Dream, Believe, Achieve' and the school song is, 'You Can Do It'. A friendly, positive school tone with a strong emphasis on teaching and encouraging students who uphold the school values is driven by The Western Australian Positive Behaviour Support (WA PBS) program. Established in 1986, the school is located in Gosnells, a south-eastern suburb of Perth. The school is built upon historic farming land with diverse wetlands located adjacent to the school.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally possess highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with teachers, students, families, and support staff to create and maintain a supportive and inclusive education program that meets the diverse needs of students.

Applicants with extensive experience and knowledge in supporting students with a variety of needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, diabetes, anxiety, and trauma, are encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants should ideally exhibit strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to proactively support student learning, behaviour regulation, and social and emotional development through the implementation of effective and responsive strategies. Experience in using a range of approaches to develop communication, socialisation, and self-regulation skills is highly desirable.

Suitable applicants should also display the ability to work independently with confidence and initiative, effectively prioritising tasks and responding to student needs in a dynamic school environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside a proactive and professional approach, are integral to this role.

    • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
