The Role
Coastal Lakes College (CLC) is seeking a passionate, innovative and knowledgeable Curriculum leader to fill the position of Head of Learning Area (HOLA) Science. The successful applicant will be a collaborative, people-focused and improvement-driven curriculum leader, that promotes active participation amongst students and connects them to the real world through their learning. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant be experienced in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) Physics and possess well developed skills in leading high-quality teaching and learning programs and assessments. The HOLA Science will have a strong background in high quality, evidence-based instructional practice and will be passionate and skilled in building the capacity of their staff to implement the colleges Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework.
As HOLA - Science, your primary role will be to lead staff in the effective implementation of the WA Science Curriculum and the implementation of the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses across the learning area in our ATAR, General and Vocational Directions Pathway Programs. You will continue to foster a culture of ongoing learning, self-reflection, personal growth and teamwork within the Science team, to maximise student engagement and achievement outcomes. You will be able to identify the necessary strategies to support improvements in student learning and achievement. You will ideally be able to positively influence and engage your staff in working cohesively to implement your learning area operational plan to achieve the strategic priorities and targets outlined in College Plan 2026 to 2028.
You will liaise with students, parents and the College Executive, other Heads of Learning Area and relevant specialist staff to ensure the priority areas of the College are being led effectively. You will ideally embrace the college’s vision of success for all students and the college motto, Imagine, Believe, Inspire and Achieve and this will be evident through your leadership approach. The successful applicant will ideally be able to display the necessary personal attributes and skills required to lead a team effectively and foster a culture that prioritises positive student-teacher relationships, quality teaching and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
