About the role
This position manages and develops all aspects of the drawing management tools on behalf of the Office of Major Transport Infrastructure Delivery, ensuring the seamless integration of project graphical information across complex programs of work. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest levels of engineering integrity, accuracy and compliance in all technical documentation, ensuring BIM and CAD files are fit for purpose and support whole‑of‑life asset management. The role oversees BIM and CAD processes, standards, templates and libraries, reviews supplier models and execution plans, and ensures robust, reliable systems are in place to maintain data quality from design through to engineering and maintenance.
As a leader and technical authority, you will foster a strong, collaborative team culture while providing guidance, mentoring and specialist advice across the organisation. You will supervise project staff as required, conduct audits, drive continuous improvement initiatives and monitor emerging technologies to support system upgrades and innovation. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, you will ensure compliance with relevant regulations, rail safety standards and corporate policies, while delivering training and ongoing support to digital engineers, designers and drafters. About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Qualifications & Technical Skills: Degree‑qualified with extensive BIM, CAD and digital engineering experience, including standards development and quality assurance.
- Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage BIM/CAD teams and resources across complex projects.
- Organisation & Problem Solving: Strong planning, prioritisation and analytical skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and resolve complex issues.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Highly developed communication skills with experience influencing and working effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels.

There is currently one fixed term opportunity available for 12 months with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
To be eligible to work at the PTA you must be either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa with at least 12 months validity and full working rights at the time of application.
