We are currently looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Mental Health Liaison to join our team in Bunbury.  

This is a Fixed Term Full Time appointment until 01/12/2026, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Are you a passionate and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist in Mental Health looking to make a significant impact in an acute care setting? We invite you to join Western Australia Country Health Service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Mental Health Liaison at Bunbury Regional Hospital. In this pivotal role, you will provide a timely and specialised clinical mental health nursing consultancy service to our Emergency Department and beyond.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Significant experience in acute adult mental health services with demonstrated advanced skills in crisis intervention and psychiatric assessment.
  • Strong leadership abilities within a multidisciplinary team environment, coupled with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant computer systems and maintaining patient databases.
  • Knowledgeable in legislative and regulatory requirements impacting mental health service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct mental health triage and risk assessments for patients presenting to the Emergency Department and liaise effectively with the Mental Health team for psychiatric assessments.
  • Provide consultation services to medical and nursing clinicians, aiding in patient management strategies and education.
  • Coordinate after-hours psychiatric emergency responses, delivering critical support to colleagues and ensuring a seamless service.
  • Develop and maintain clinical pathways, policies, and guidelines in collaboration with mental health clinicians and managers.
  • Promote mental health education within Bunbury Regional Hospital by participating in staff development sessions and community outreach initiatives.
