eligible for appointment, applicants must have a valid working visa
(for fixed term appointments) or be an Australian citizen,

Other Conditions: WA Health

policies require applicants to undertake a criminal records
screening and integrity checking as part of the appointment
process. As well as undertaking a criminal record screening and
integrity checking, you may also be required to undertake a working
with children check (if required for the role) and a pre-employment

(WACHS) is conditional on satisfactory PEHA to ensure you are able
to perform the inherent requirements of the position. An
unsatisfactory PEHA will result in the offer of employment being

Whilst this selection process will initially
be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill
other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In
addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate
the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may
also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain
valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised
delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
Area Profile: WA Country
Health Service (WACHS) Mental Health Central Office (MHCO) is a
skilled and dynamic team drawing on a wide range of experience and
backgrounds to reflect diversity in cultural, consumer, peer and
clinical perspectives across a range of functions to support and
develop contemporary mental health and alcohol and other drugs
services across the state. WACHS mental health services provide a
broad range of clinical services including face to face and virtual
service delivery formats.
The WACHS Infant, Child and
Adolescent Mental Health Service (ICAMHS) Specialist Hub
(WISH) sits within WACHS Mental Health Services. The WISH
service and team is currently in the process of being established
by MHCO, with the expectation the service will commence 1 July
2026. Working with WACHS regional teams, WISH will contribute to
the strengthening of specialist mental health care and aims to
improve the health outcomes for children and young people aged 0–18
years living in country WA.
Position Profile: MHCO is
seeking an experienced and dynamic individual for
the role of Lived Experience (Peer) Lead.
The Lived Experience (Peer) Lead utilises
their consumer or carer Lived Experience to provide operational
support, consultancy and guidance for infants, children,
adolescents, family and support persons accessing ICAMHS in WACHS’
regions.
This position works within the
multidisciplinary team to enhance the delivery of specialised
recovery-oriented, accessible, and person-centred care
predominantly via virtual communication across all WACHS regions.
This role also connects in person with infants, children,
adolescents, and families during metropolitan inpatient
stays.
The position leads and contributes to
education, mentoring, supervision and consultation activities that
build the capability of the regional workforce and strengthen
meaningful engagement with families, communities and lived
experience perspectives.

Selection
Criteria:
- Minimum qualification of
Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work, Intentional Peer
Support or similar.
- Significant professional
experience in a Peer Worker or Lived Experience role in a
clinical setting.
- Advanced knowledge and
application of Lived Experience, Intentional Disclosure,
Recovery Orientated Practice and Trauma Informed Care values
and principles in professional practice and service
delivery.
- Demonstrated leadership
skills including ability to provide practice supervision,
mentoring, coordinating activities, and training team
members.
- Demonstrated knowledge
and understanding of the impact of social justice issues
affecting people with mental illness and/or substance misuse
challenges.
- Demonstrated written
skills and the ability to use outlook/Microsoft suite of
applications, verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to
negotiate and work effectively across community and inpatient
settings to maintain collaborative relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to
work effectively using time management and problem solving as a
senior team member in a multidisciplinary team, as well as
independently, with the ability to plan and implement process
changes.
