About the role
The College employs appropriately skilled and/or qualified Technicians in the mechanical, industrial, chemical and scientific training fields to support quality learning delivery and broader College outcomes. Technicians work collaboratively as a team and are deployed across the campus to meet business needs.

This position is primarily based at the RCR offsite training facility in Picton and is the main technical support resource at that location. The role also works closely with the broader technician team based at the Bunbury campus and may provide support there as required.

To be successful in this role you will hold a Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting).

Staff appointed to this role routinely undertake active outdoor and indoor work; work in environments that may contain dust and potential irritants and undertake manual handling, including lifting, bending and moving equipment. 

Eligibility for employment is subject to obtaining a satisfactory Department of Education Criminal Clearance. If this position involves contact with children, the recommended occupant will also be required to obtain a Working with Children (WWC) Card.

To be eligible for appointment applicants must have a working visa (for fixed term contract appointments) or permanent residency (for permanent appointments).

This selection process may be used to identify suitable applicants for similar vacancies that arise within the next twelve months.

Should no suitable applicant be identified, or an offer declined, the panel may search for further applicants beyond the closing date.

SR TAFE has a shutdown period of up to 12 working days over Christmas/New Year. Arrangements for paid leave in advance or leave without pay during the shutdown period will be negotiated with the successful applicant.
