Yakamia Primary School (PS) is an Independent Public School located in the community of Albany. Translated from the local Aboriginal language, Yakamia means 'Home of the Long Neck Turtle'. The Role
Yakamia PS is seeking dedicated ECE teachers who are committed to providing high quality early years teaching and engaging learning programs in a supportive and inclusive environment. Suitable applicants will ideally have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with students and parents.
As a teacher at Yakamia you should be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students, by implementing the Western Australian Curriculum, new Early Years Learning Framework and Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, providing meaningful learning opportunities, and using a balanced approach of explicit teaching strategies, play-based learning, and with a strong focus on developing Literacy and Numeracy.
Suitable applicants will work well as a team member, collaborating in learning phase teams to implement whole school strategies and programs as per the School Business Plan. This includes, being able to effectively use and implement PreLit (K) InitiaLit (P-2), and the iSTAR instructional model to improve student outcomes. They will effectively differentiate the curriculum to support Students at Educational Risk and Special Needs students.
Suitable applicants will ideally possess effective behaviour management skills to maintain an engaging, orderly and caring learning environment, and be proactive in using restorative practices and the Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategy which is embedded across the whole school. They should be collaborative in striving to achieve our vision ‘Belong Believe Become – Success for all students’, ensuring students are at the forefront of everything we do.
