ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Category Manager manages the supply chain, including purchasing, procurement processes and contracts, within the strategic and high-risk Aviation and Logistics portfolio. The role is co-located within key DFES business areas and is ultimately seeking to deliver improved hazard management to the WA community.

The Senior Category Manager is critical in setting and meeting business goals and is accountable for category performance, including benefits tracking and . The role also manages staff who assist in managing the Portfolio.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Lead a Portfolio;
  • Achieve outcomes and drive benefits;
  • Be diligent in the quality of their work, and the work of subordinates; and
  • Maintain professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

The environment is dynamic and requires the ability to strategically assess opportunities and risks while complying with WA Public Sector and internal DFES procurement directives, policies and procedures.

Leadership Behaviours are applicable to this role, and you are expected to demonstrate the relevant behaviours aligned to the context of Leading Others Additional details on expected behaviours are attached.

NATIONAL POLICE CERTIFICATE

A condition of employment for new employees of DFES is that a current National Police Certificate (less than 3 months old) is provided prior to commencement.  

CHOICE OF SUPER

The Fire and Emergency Services (Superannuation Fund) Regulations 1986, prevents DFES from offering choice of super for permanent appointments. Those appointed permanently, only have the following two options: 

  • Remain with their existing GESB Superannuation account; or  
  • Join the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund (Click here for more information). 

Those appointed on a fixed term contract do have choice of super, however if converted to permanent, employees will need to choose one on the two options listed above.
