The Teacher Registration Directorate comprises the Registration and Customer Services Branch, the Investigations and Compliance Branch and the Policy and Quality Assurance Branch. The Directorate is responsible for providing secretariat services to the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA). The Directorate supports the Board’s mission of serving the public interest by ensuring that teachers are registered and teacher education programmes are accredited in accordance with relevant legislation and in the best interests of children.
The Role
The Principal Consultant - Accreditation and Qualifications is responsible for managing the accreditation scheme for initial teacher education (ITE) programs delivered in Western Australia, ensuring compliance with the legislative and policy framework of the TRBWA including accreditation standards approved by the Minister for Education. This position oversees the Senior Qualifications Officer and Qualifications Officer, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in the assessment of teacher qualifications and accreditation processes. The role also involves managing business systems and processes to ensure the efficient accreditation of ITE programs, maintaining records, and generating reports as required. Furthermore, the position undertakes research and reviews systems and processes to support the assessment of teacher qualifications and the accreditation of ITE programs.
In addition to managing accreditation and qualifications, the Principal Consultant provides high-level policy advice to the Director and to the Board, on matters related to ITE program accreditation and teacher registration. The Principal Consultant fosters positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, monitors staff performance and leave entitlements, and ensures that the team delivers proactive, customer-focused services while maintaining a high standard of quality across operations.
