This is a fixed term, full time vacancy available for twelve (12) months, with the possibility of extension of up to six (6) months, subject to business requirements.

About the role

The Corrective Services Academy, as a Registered Training Organisation, is responsible for identifying and delivering current and future operational learning and development requirements for Corrective Services. This includes supporting capability development at the individual, business, and organisational levels, from foundational skills through to leadership development. The role of the Youth Justice Training team is to advise, promote and delivery youth justice related learning and development programs for Departmental staff and external clients. 

The Team Leader Youth Justice Training oversees the planning and delivery of learning and development for staff working with young people in community justice settings, with a focus on foundation training for new Youth Justice Officers.

The role also supports and develops students and staff undertaking training through supervision, feedback and professional development to ensure the achievement of the required learning outcomes.

The successful applicant:

  • Will have industry experience of working with young people engaged in the Western Australian youth justice system.
  • Will be self-motivated to learn on how to design, deliver and coordinate an accredited training program.
  • Will have an understanding of the Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Community) qualification, and how learning and assessment practices are incorporated into the Youth Justice Foundation Training Program.
  • Will have or will work towards attaining the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
  • Will possess a strong capability to confidently and accurately deliver training across a range of settings, in alignment with the prescribed curriculum.
  • Must be team orientated and focused on delivering team objectives and outcomes whilst also displaying a mature level of autonomy and self-drive.
  • Must have good experience in using computers (excel, word and power point).
