The Opportunity:
Westport is building the foundations for Western Australia’s next century of trade, and we’re seeking a capable, detail‑focused Level 4 Project Officer to support delivery across key workstreams.
This recruitment process will fill one (1) immediate fixed-term Project Officer vacancy, while also establishing a 24‑month recruitment pool to support future similar opportunities across the Westport program and/or the Department of Transport & Major Infrastructure (DTMI).

Immediate Vacancy
Project Officer (Level 4) – Marine & Ports Infrastructure
Fixed-term contract through to 30 June 2028.
This role sits within the Marine & Ports Infrastructure workstream, supporting the technical and planning inputs that shape Westport’s future port solution, from early investigation through to delivery readiness. Your impact will be through:
- Undertaking research and analysis, gathering and interpreting data to support planning activities and identify insights for further investigation.
- Synthesising complex information, distilling key issues and contributing to practical recommendations that inform decision‑making.
- Supporting project delivery and program tracking, maintaining documentation, records and inputs to monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Producing high-quality written outputs, including briefings, reports, submissions and presentations tailored to the intended audience.
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to support coordinated project outcomes.
Following assessment, suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool that may be used to fill similar Project Officer (Level 4) roles that arise across Westport and/or the Department of Transport & Major Infrastructure over the next 24 months.
What sets you apart:
You’ll bring a thoughtful, proactive and reliable approach to supporting complex projects, along with:
- Good written communication skills with the ability to prepare summary information, reports, correspondence and other documentation.
- Proficiency in researching, evaluating and analysing data and information in order to support delivery of project objectives.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to work effectively across business areas, with officers at all levels, to facilitate the achievement of team goals.
- Proven experience in coordinating administrative and/or project related activities, including the ability to prioritise work to deliver project outcomes.
- Well-developed organisational skills with ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.

There is currently one (1) full time, fixed term appointment contract up to 30 June 2028, with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency, available for immediate start.
What is a Recruitment Pool?
This is a pool recruitment process; we use recruitment pools to build a bank of talent who we feel might be suited to future opportunities within Westport and/or the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure (DTMI). You may join us on a full-time, part-time, fixed term or permanent basis; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next Twenty-four (24) months from date of first appointment across Westport or the DTMI.
