The Opportunity
The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) is seeking an
experienced senior leader to lead its Property Services Directorate
and provide strategic stewardship of a significant land and
infrastructure portfolio that delivers essential services to the
Western Australian community.
This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the long‑term
sustainability, development and optimisation of a complex public
sector property portfolio, balancing statutory obligations,
community expectations and environmental responsibility.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director Property
Services provides strategic leadership to senior managers and
multidisciplinary teams responsible for the planning, development
and management of the MCB’s land and infrastructure portfolio.
Operating in a highly visible and complex stakeholder environment,
the role leads the delivery of the Strategic Development Plan and
Asset Investment Plans to ensure assets are fit‑for‑purpose,
aligned with community expectations, and deliver sustainable
returns on investment and long‑term public value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead property, land use, leasing, acquisition and disposal
strategies to optimise asset value and public outcomes
- Deliver major capital works projects on time, within budget
and to scope
- Ensure land, buildings, capital works projects and
day‑to‑day operations comply with environmental, planning,
accessibility and work health and safety
- Develop and implement master plans, policies and frameworks
for land and asset management
- Build strong relationships across government, industry and
the community
- Provide strategic and risk‑informed advice on land supply,
future demand and emerging trends

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the
following:
- Experience managing a large, complex property or land
portfolio, ideally in the public sector or delivery of
community services
- Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory
frameworks relevant to land and asset management
- Demonstrated success leading capital works and
infrastructure programs
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication
- Proven capability in people leadership, financial
management and strategic decision‑making
There is currently one [1] permanent
