The Survey and Mapping team is part of our Asset and Geospatial Information Branch - a focused and dynamic team that manages survey, mapping, RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems), and underground utilities surveys for Main Roads across Western Australia.

We are seeking a motivated Surveying Data Co-ordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, maintenance, and integration of survey project data and geospatial systems, while supporting the delivery of key infrastructure projects across the state.

 

About the Role:

As the Surveying Data Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of engineering-grade spatial data. You will coordinate all survey data processes and systems to meet Main Roads’ requirements for the provision of design grade data for infrastructure projects.

In this role, you will also provide expert advice to key stakeholders on data management and standards, while developing and maintaining best practices for data management, surveying, and underground utility surveys.

 

Some of the key responsibilities:

  • Data Verification and Maintenance: Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and completeness of survey project data.
  • Technical Support: Provide specialist technical support in the development and application of guidelines and standards related to spatial data management and survey processes.
  • Data Management:
    • Review the consistency, definition, and completeness of engineering-grade corporate spatial data.
    • Extract and provide spatial data to meet Main Roads' business requirements and ensure road asset systems are current, complete, and valid.
    • Contribute to the development and review of technical standards and guidelines for data management, surveying, and underground utility surveys.
    • Research and recommend new technologies for spatial data management and survey field capture.

 

About You - to be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in geospatial data management, GIS, MicroStation, and other survey systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in spatial data standards, storage, and retrieval.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to recommend innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to safety, health, and wellbeing in the workplace.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake intrastate travel as required
