The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Policy Officer to join our Strategic Programs team!

As a Senior Policy Officer, you will develop and deliver evidence-based policy and reform initiatives that support safe drivers, safe vehicles, secure identities and quality service. You will also provide high-quality advice, leading research and analysis, and preparing clear briefs and reports to inform decisions across Driver and Vehicle Services.

There is currently one permanent position available for immediate filling.

The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of employment (fixed term or permanent) in this or similar roles for a period of twelve (12) months from date of first appointment.

  • You have experience developing and delivering policy, interpreting legislation, and providing clear, evidence‑based advice in dynamic environments.
  • You bring strong analytical, research and problem‑solving skills, and you’re comfortable working through ambiguity, managing risk and contributing to projects that matter.
  • You communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and can translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights.
  • Curious and forward thinking, you like to challenge assumptions and explore new ideas.
  • You work confidently both independently and as part of a collaborative team, take ownership of your work, and contribute positively to shared goals.
