This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Oakwood Primary School (PS) opened for Pre Primary and Kindergarten students in 2018 and extended from Kindergarten to Year 6 in 2019 in purpose built, modern facilities. The school services the suburbs of Meadow Springs, Madora Bay and San Remo and is an Independent Public School. The school has a strong sense of community engagement and aims to provide a dynamic learning environment that is positive, inclusive and underpinned by strong values. In 2026, the school will provide a quality education to over 900 students.

We are a Positive Behaviour Support School and believe that expected behaviours need to be explicitly taught and positively reinforced. We have a blended pedagogy of High Impact Explicit Instruction alongside intention play and inquiry learning to foster a lifelong love of learning amongst our students.

The Role

If this is your philosophy, then we may have a position for you! Oakwood PS is seeking to appoint a Lead Education Assistant to add to our growing Student Services Team. The position is permanent full time and will commence in Term 2, 2026. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic educational team with the vision ‘children are the heart of our school’ and ethos that reflects the area, the community and most importantly, the needs of our children.

The successful applicant would be a valued part of a growing team that builds a school culture that is positive, inclusive and extends young minds. You will ideally have strong communication and interpersonal skills and have the capacity to work cooperatively with all others to create and maintain a welcoming and vibrant environment for students and families.

The Lead Education Assistant role may include:

  • Work closely with and under the direction of the Learning Support Co-ordinator in the student services team.
  • Lead, mentor, coach and model good practice for other Education Assistants (EA).
  • Lead and assist in performance and development processes for Special Needs EA.
  • Support with timetabling and EA rosters.
  • Support staff to meet the needs of Students at Educational Risk and students with an Individual Disability Allocation.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents/caregivers, School Psychologist, Chaplain and other professionals to ensure students are well supported.
  • Provide solutions and support to staff in relation to meeting the learning and behavioural needs of students.
  • Engage in professional learning to remain upskilled and well trained.
  • Promote, maintain and contribute to the positive culture of the school.

The successful applicant will ideally have experience in working with challenging students who have a range of needs. You should have a passion to help students develop their skills, reach key milestones, contribute to their well-being and provide positive leadership to EA’s as a key part of their role.

It would be highly regarded if the successful applicant has an understanding of the Oakwood PS context and a demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with staff, students and the school community.
