About us

The Mental Health Advocacy Service (MHAS) is established under Part 20 of the Mental Health Act 2014.  It is an independent body providing support, advocacy and rights protection for identified persons, including involuntary mental health patients and psychiatric hostel residents. The Chief Mental Health Advocate (the Chief) engages Senior Mental Health Advocates (Senior Advocates) who supervise Mental Health Advocates, Youth Advocates and other specialist Advocates.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person for the role of Executive Assistant.

The Executive Assistant is responsible for providing high-level confidential executive and administrative support to the Chief, Deputy, the General Counsel and Managers.

Key Responsibilities will include:

  • Efficiently and effectively manage the Chief’s and Deputy’s diaries incoming correspondence and general requests, and appropriately screen all matters with support from the Senior Executive Officer, bringing attention to urgent enquiries and issues.
  • Assist the Senior Executive Officer in ensuring the availability of briefing notes and relevant correspondence/materials for meetings and forums attended by the Chief and Deputy.
  • Organise high-level meetings and functions on behalf of the Chief, Deputy, Senior Advocates, the General Counsel and Managers, coordinating activities, hospitality arrangements, contractors and staff to ensure high quality outcomes.
  • Anticipate the needs of the Chief and Deputy in relation to forthcoming meetings, functions and events and makes appropriate advance arrangements for their needs.
