About
Our Team:
At the
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
(CAMHS) our Social Workers are part of a collaborative,
multi-disciplinary team providing compassionate assessment, support
and treatment to infants, children and young people experiencing
moderate to severe mental health
challenges
and their families. We adopt a recovery oriented,
child-centered approach that assists our clients to establish
practical and attainable goals that improves their wellbeing and
functioning and engagement in everyday activities (school, family
life, relationships, recreation, play).
Our
multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals includes
psychiatrists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists,
occupational therapists, clinical nurses, Aboriginal mental health
workers and lived experience staff. CAMHS offers a comprehensive
range of services including mental health assessment and specialist
counselling, crisis intervention, advocacy, psychoeducation, case
management, family support and liaison with other
services. Our work includes developing external
stakeholder partnerships with local schools and service
providers.
About
the Role:
As a
Social Worker with CAMHS you will provide mental
health assessment and multi-disciplinary intervention for children
and young people. This is a great opportunity to develop your
skills in a supportive learning environment. You will
leverage the skills and knowledge of Senior Social Workers and
other health professionals to provide a sound comprehensive
service, encompassing assessment, treatment, advocacy, prevention,
and collaboration.
You will help
children, adolescents, and their families navigate the challenges
that can arise from complex and diverse needs and mental health
concerns, you will play a vital role in helping young people
establish practical and attainable goals, promoting the highest
level of function in various aspects of their lives and improving
overall well-being.
What
you’ll be doing:
- Conduct
bio-psychosocial assessments and mental state assessments to
determine the unique needs of young people
- Provide
social work service including mental health assessments, risk
assessments, case management and evidence-based therapeutic
interventions to individuals, families and groups
- Advocate
for clients' rights and needs within the community and the
healthcare system
- Liaise
with families, carers, health professionals, community agencies
and others to coordinate care, intervention and discharge
planning, report on client progress and outcomes, and initiate
referrals.
Please
note a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for
full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers is
a requirement for this role.

Eligibility to
Apply: To be eligible for appointment, applicants
must have a valid working visa (for fixed term appointments) or be
an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live
and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent
appointments).

Conditions: WA Health engages staff in positions of trust

Whilst this
selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy,
it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout
the health service. In addition to this, should the successful
applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next
most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process.
Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12)
months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment
decision.
