Commencing early January 2027, law graduates employed in the Perth-based stream of the program will be offered a contract to 30 June 2027 with the possibility of extension/s.
This pool recruitment process will be used to fill fixed term full time and part time vacancies that may arise over a period of 9 months from the date of finalisation of the recruitment process. Fixed term appointments may be made with the possibility of extension/s.
About the role
The Legal Aid WA Law Graduate Program is a fantastic opportunity to start your legal career with comprehensive training, professional support, responsibility, diverse work opportunities and a generous salary package.
You will be placed in the Criminal Law Division observing and delivering legal advice, discrete assistance and duty lawyer services under appropriate supervision. Positions may also be available in the Family Law Division undertaking similar activities.
You will receive extensive training, attending weekly training days as well as criminal and family law intensive workshops. Training and practice will initially be focused on criminal law matters, however this will expand to include family and civil law matters over the course of the program.
It is intended that graduates will apply for inclusion in a Solicitor SCL1/2 Pool prior to 30 June 2027 to be considered for ongoing employment as a solicitor.
About you
Legal Aid WA is looking for applicants who have excellent academic results in their law degree and are passionate about social justice.
To be eligible for these positions, as at 1 January 2027 you must have completed a law degree and be:
- Enrolled in an approved Practical Legal Training (PLT) program with an expected completion date prior to 30 June 2027; or
- Eligible for admission to practice; or
- Admitted but with limited experience in legal practice.
