About the opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Biosecurity Compliance Coordinator to lead the Department’s multidisciplinary Biosecurity Compliance Section. In this senior operational role, you will provide strategic and tactical leadership across education, inspection, investigation and enforcement activities, ensuring effective compliance outcomes across aquatic, plant, animal, invasive and environmental biosecurity portfolios.
You will play a key role in driving best practice compliance programs, managing complex investigations, strengthening operational capability, and collaborating with internal and external partners to help protect Western Australia from pest and disease threats.
There is currently one (1) permanent full-time position available for immediate filling. This position is located in Victoria Park.

- a confident and credible leader with substantial experience managing compliance and investigative teams in a complex regulatory or law enforcement environment, ideally within biosecurity.
- strong legislative knowledge, sound judgement, a drive for continuous improvement and the ability to translate risk and intelligence into effective operational responses.
- Well-developed communication and relationship building skills, and someone who excels at working collaboratively, leading people through change, and delivering results in dynamic and high‑stakes environments.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
