Fellow - General Surgery (Acute Surgical
Unit)
This
is a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time appointments for 12
months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable
applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be
made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from
this pool
until 30/09/2026.
Position Profile:
The Acute Surgery Fellow covers
the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) and
is responsible for admitting & managing patients for General
Surgery in normal hours and approx. 1 in 7 (on-call) out of hours.
The Fellow supervises GSET and Service Registrars, Resident Medical
Officers and Interns under the direction of General Surgery
Consultants and the rotating Surgeon of the day on the ASU. The
position suits an early career General Surgeon who may have a
subspecialty interest but is passionate about and skilled in the
care of emergency general surgery patients, is keen to teach and is
able to manage multiple conflicting priorities while maintaining a
positive and professional demeanour.

Fiona Stanley Hospital
(FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range
of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a
comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit,
maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult
Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart
and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
Fremantle Hospital (FH) is a 300-bed specialist
hospital focused on providing high-quality aged care, mental
health, secondary rehabilitation, planned surgeries and medical
services.
