About The Role
The Prosecutions Officer is a key operational role within the Security Services branch of Transperth Train Operations, supporting the effective management of prosecution matters arising from railway related offences. This role provides essential administrative support, prosecution brief management, and representation services that underpin the PTA’s prosecution function.
In this role, you will compile and process summons prosecution documentation, manage the flow and audit of court briefs, and coordinate court dates and follow up actions to ensure matters progress efficiently and meet required standards. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies to resolve issues, correct errors, and ensure compliance with legislative, procedural, and court requirements.
At the direction of the Senior Prosecutor, you will attend Magistrates and Children’s Courts to represent the Public Transport Authority in simple criminal matters. Your ability to prepare accurate documentation, manage sensitive information, and conduct yourself professionally in court will directly support the integrity and credibility of the PTA’s prosecution activities.
This role is suited to an organised and detail focused professional who is comfortable working in a structured legal and operational environment, enjoys administrative responsibility with public facing outcomes, and values consistency, accuracy, and procedural fairness.
About You
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a sound understanding of court etiquette, processes, and jurisdiction, along with demonstrated knowledge of relevant PTA related criminal legislation and prosecution brief compilation techniques.
- Bring strong administrative and organisational capability, with experience managing documentation, deadlines, and competing priorities in a regulated or compliance driven environment.
- Be capable of representing the Public Transport Authority in Magistrates and Children’s Courts for simple criminal matters, demonstrating professionalism, composure, and confidence in a court setting.
- Possess well developed communication skills, both written and interpersonal, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, liaise effectively with stakeholders, and maintain composure when dealing with challenging situations.
- Be a reliable and collaborative team member who can work with minimal supervision, contribute to team outcomes, and adapt to evolving priorities within an operational justice environment.
- Demonstrate solid computer literacy, with the ability to competently use word processing, spreadsheet, and database systems to support prosecution and reporting requirements.
