Housing and Transport are seeking to establish a pool of Housing and Transport Officer for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of May, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Housing and Transport team is part of Staffing Services and is responsible for provision of related support services to staff in rural and remote areas. These services include provision of suitable, subsidised housing in areas of need, establishing contracts for the removal of employee’s furniture and motor vehicles and payment of various allowances.

The Role

This role is primarily responsible for:

  • assessing, calculating and paying staff claims for travel, relocation and utilities subsidies
  • booking, managing and payment of staff accommodation and travel
  • coordinating and managing vacant property utilities accounts
  • administering utilities invoicing
  • managing and distributing incoming correspondence and claims
  • maintaining data-entry and effective record-keeping.

Later on, you may also assist in providing property management services by:

  • allocating subsidised housing to teachers
  • monitoring housing vacancy levels
  • assessing needs for additional housing
  • maintaining accommodation databases
  • administering rent charges and invoices for our leased properties
  • calculating and arranging salary deductions for rent.

Suitable applicants will have good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. This is so that you can partner with our service providers, understand school needs and advise employees on eligibility, their applications, policy, and procedures. Most communication is via email, phone and standard letter correspondence.

Availability of leave is limited during the peak operational period, occurring annually from 1 November to 28 February.
