The Opportunity

This role leads the procurement and contract management function for goods, services and information and communication technology across the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB). The position provides specialist procurement and contract management advice to stakeholders, supporting sound, defensible decision-making, and oversees the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including planning, market engagement, tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract formation and ongoing management.

As a dependable Manager Contracts and Procurement, you understand the purpose and sensitivity of our core business and support service delivery while strengthening governance and ensuring all procurement and contracting activities are compliant with legislative, policy and accountability obligations.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage procurement and contract activities in accordance with the WA Procurement Rules and Treasurer’s Instructions.
  • Provide specialist advice to stakeholders on procurement strategy and contracting approaches, including performance management and dispute resolution.
  • Manage complex and high-risk organisation-wide contracts, ensuring contractor performance, value, risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and contract management processes, systems and practices.
  • Coordinate and deliver training and awareness activities to build capability and ensure compliance.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have as a minimum:

  • Experience as a contracts or procurement practitioner, leading the development, management and delivery of contemporary procurement and contract management.
  • Well-developed negotiation and commercial skills, including experience in contract onboarding, variations, renewals and exists, and managing risk.
  • Highly developed analytical, research and conceptual skills, with the ability to assess complex issues, undertake analysis, and provide practical advice and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing a team, and developing, implementing and embedding governance frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of WA Government procurement legislation, policies and guidelines.
