This is a fixed term, full time vacancy available for six (6) months, with the possibility of extension for a further six (6) months or permanency, subject to business requirements.

About the role

The Corrective Services Academy, as a Registered Training Organisation, is responsible for identifying and delivering current and future custodial operational learning and development requirements for Corrective Services. This includes supporting capability development at the individual, business, and organisational levels, from foundational skills through to leadership development.

The Team Leader Custodial Training provides leadership and oversight to a team of custodial training staff, ensuring the effective planning, coordination, and delivery of custodial training programs in line with an agreed training schedule.

The position manages the allocation and utilisation of resources including staffing, facilities, equipment, and learning materials to ensure training activities are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. This includes monitoring workloads, identifying resource gaps, and implementing adjustments to meet changing operational demands.

In addition, the role oversees trainer performance and capability, providing guidance, support, and coaching to maintain quality training outcomes. It ensures training delivery complies with relevant policies, procedures, legislative requirements, and accreditation standards, while continuously reviewing program effectiveness and contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.

The position works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to align training priorities with organisational needs and ensure desired outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes.

Whilst previous custodial experienced may be beneficial, it is not essential for this role.

Eligibility

Qualification – Possession of or progression towards a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Special Conditions:

  • A current and valid ‘C’ class drivers’ licence or equivalent.
  • The position holder may be required to travel and deliver training state-wide at prisons and training venues as required.

Permanent positions - To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
