The Opportunity:
Westport are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Communications & Engagement Officer to play a key role in telling the story of a once‑in‑a‑generation infrastructure program that will shape Western Australia’s trade, economy and communities for decades to come.
In this role, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of communications and engagement activities across the Westport program, working closely with project teams, delivery partners and senior leaders. You will help translate complex technical and project information into clear, accessible and engaging communications that build understanding, trust and confidence among stakeholders, industry and the community.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a high‑profile, long‑term program of national significance, within a collaborative and future‑focused environment. You’ll be trusted to work with a high degree of autonomy, while being supported by a multidisciplinary team committed to delivering positive outcomes for Western Australia.
Your impact will be through:
- Planning and delivering integrated communications and engagement activities that support individual projects and the broader Westport program.
- Producing high‑quality communications materials, including briefings, publications, digital content and audiovisual assets, aligned to strategy and style guidelines.
- Providing timely, well‑considered communications advice and support to project leaders, senior executives and the Minister.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to support effective two‑way engagement.
- Managing key communication channels and platforms to ensure consistent, accurate and accessible information sharing.
- Responding to community enquiries and issues professionally and working collaboratively to identify and address stakeholder impacts.
- Proactively identifying and implementing community and communications opportunities.
What sets you apart:
- Proven experience supporting high-profile communications and stakeholder issues within complex and high-pressured major projects.
- Proven experience in planning, designing and implementing integrated communications and engagement plans.
- Highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information, and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in complex, high-pressure major project environments.
- Strong organisational and project management capability, including the ability to set priorities, meet tight deadlines, and provide well-reasoned advice to senior leaders.
- A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, public relations, media, community engagement or a related discipline (or equivalent experience) is desirable.

There is currently one (1) full time, fixed term appointment contract up to 30 June 2028 with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency available for immediate start.
