About the role
The Parliamentary Counsel’s Office (PCO) is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Project Officer. Under the guidance of senior officers, the Project Officer will develop and recommend proposals for strategic projects within PCO, and manage their implementation and completion. The role also supports senior management across a range of administrative functions, including human and financial resources, HR liaison, budgeting, corporate reporting, and procurement.
About the Parliamentary Counsel’s Office
PCO has a staff of over 50, consisting of legislative drafters, editors and publications and support staff and IT staff. PCO provides comprehensive legislative drafting and related services to the State Government, its departments and agencies. PCO also provides legislative drafting services to private Members of Parliament and facilitates the work of Parliamentary committees. PCO publishes the legislation of Western Australia by hosting and maintaining the Western Australian legislation website, www.legislation.wa.gov.au.
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must:
- be an Australian Citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia; or
- have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (at the time of application); or
- have an entitlement to live and work indefinitely in Australia.

- A comprehensive resume that clearly outlines your transferable skills, experience and highlights your key achievements.
- A statement of no more than two (2) pages addressing the following Role Specific Criteria below as listed on the JDF. Please provide examples to support your claims.
- Demonstrated project experience, including the ability to successfully plan, organise and complete multiple projects of a complex kind within designated timeframes.
- Demonstrated sound research, analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience in providing assistance with administrative functions, including human and finance resources, HR interface, budgeting, corporate reporting and procurement.
- Contact details of two (2) recent work referees, with one (1) of them being your current Line Manager where possible.

Subsequent Vacancies
Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies in the Department of Justice for a period of twelve (12) months, in accordance with Commissioner's Instructions No. 2: Filling a Public Sector Vacancy and Commissioner’s Instructions No. 39: Interim Arrangements to Fill Public Sector Vacancies. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered during this period.
