The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

CAHS helps children grow and thrive and we offer these same opportunities to the nurses who join our team. Our team-oriented approach allows for extensive clinical upskilling, and leadership development opportunities for nurses of all levels.

About the Role:

The Coordinator Occupational Therapy leads and co-ordinates the services of the occupational therapy services in Ward 5A including the co-ordination of the professional supervision of staff and the promotion and maintenance of professional standards. This role provides a specialised occupational therapy mental health service using a range of appropriate evidence-based interventions requiring advanced knowledge, experience and competence within a multidisciplinary and professional team context. You will also act as an expert resource and first point of contact for ward based occupational therapy matters and provides specialised level of consultation, education and supervision on complex mental health disorders in children and adolescents to both internal and external services and practitioners.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Postgraduate training in health profession, leadership and management, or other relevant qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to function at a specialised level and make decisions, with a high degree of independence, which influence the practice of the profession.
  • Demonstrated high level of effective functioning as a health professional in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level of professional knowledge, competencies, and experience in practices and provision of methods and models and evidence-based clinical interventions in children and adolescents with complex mental health disorders.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership, organisational and facilitation and communication skills.
  • A high level of competence and extensive experience in professional supervision and performance development and management processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement and research
