About the opportunity
There is currently one (1) fixed-term, full time position with the possibility of extension and/or permanency available for immediate filling.
We are looking for an experienced communicator and stakeholder engagement adviser that is passionate about WA’s primary industries and regions. This exciting opportunity will allow you to provide strategic input and develop innovative communication and stakeholder engagement strategies to engage with stakeholders from the primary industries sector, peak bodies and government.
The role works collaboratively with the wider communications team and across the department to develop the DPIRD’s major stakeholder activities and tell our story. These include corporate events, regional field days, roundtables, workshops and other external events with stakeholders.
We are looking for individuals with:
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering communications and stakeholder engagement strategies within a large and complex organisation.
- Experience engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, including government, industry and community groups
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to think creatively.
- Experience managing stakeholder activities including corporate events, community displays, roundtables and workshops
- Experience using engagement tools and templates, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, marketing automation tools, stakeholder engagement plans and style guides.
- Highly developed written/verbal communication skills and ability to develop newsletters, advertorials, stakeholder emails and advertisements.
- Excellent organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Tertiary qualification in Communications/Media/Journalism/Public Relations or equivalent.

DPIRD is an Emergency Management Agency and all employees may be required to work or travel during, or outside of, normal business hours to assist with incidents and emergencies.
