About the opportunity:

In this role, you will work as part of the broader portfolio at OMTID, supporting the delivery of large and complex transport infrastructure projects across the state by embedding sustainability outcomes into all phases of project development and delivery. As a Senior Sustainability Advisor, you will play a key role in shaping and advancing OMTID’s sustainability strategic program, ensuring initiatives are effectively implemented and continuously improved. You will provide specialist technical advice to project teams, supporting the integration of sustainability objectives into planning, design, and delivery, and enabling projects to meet sustainability targets and achieve recognised infrastructure sustainability ratings.

You will be responsible for reviewing project designs to ensure compliance with sustainability standards, identifying risks, and recommending practical mitigation strategies. A key aspect of the role will involve developing and delivering sustainability training to project managers, uplifting capability across the organisation. You will also contribute to the development and achievement of OMTID’s sustainability objectives, plans, and policies, while fostering knowledge sharing across projects and with contractor Sustainability Leads to drive consistent and innovative outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated experience in sustainability advisory, along with technical knowledge of sustainability frameworks and rating tools. You will have the ability to influence project outcomes through the provision of clear, practical advice and build strong, collaborative relationships with Project Directors, Managers, and a range of internal and external stakeholders. Your leadership capability will be critical, including experience in managing performance, supporting development, and promoting positive behaviours within teams.  This role leads a high-performing team, with people management serving as a central responsibility. Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills will enable you to drive alignment and deliver improved sustainability outcomes across a complex and fast-paced project environment.
